We are Te Aho. Our mahi weaves together lived experience, mātauranga Māori, and clinical expertise to prevent suicide and promote oranga (wellbeing).
For over 20 years, we’ve walked alongside individuals, whānau, communities, and systems navigating the impacts of suicide.
We were known as Clinical Advisory Services Aotearoa (CASA). Today, we are Te Aho, the thread that connects people and knowledge, grounded in whakapapa and guided by purpose.
We bring together the strength of:
to guide the journey towards an Aotearoa without suicide.

Te Oranga Tonutanga - Towards Wellbeing supports Oranga Tamariki Social Workers across Aotearoa in their vital work with tamariki and rangatahi (children and young people).
Our focus is on helping Social Workers build their knowledge, confidence, and skills to support young people at risk.
We offer guidance and tools for:
Identifying and responding to suicide risk
Creating safety plans
Strengthening protective factors and wellbeing
Promoting mauri ora, the flourishing of life
This initiative equips Social Workers to act early, competently, and safely, while placing the wellbeing and future of rangatahi at the centre of every response.
Ngā Kohi Rau provides authorised local responders with timely, provisional information about suspected suicides that enables swift, coordinated, and informed postvention.
Information is shared under strict protocols, and only with those who have a clear postvention role within their rohe (region).
By supporting local leadership with the right information at the right time, Ngā Kohi Rau helps communities respond early and reduce the risk of further harm.
Tō te Rā offers guidance and support to hapori (communities) and organisations where there are concerns about suicide exposure effects, such as clusters or contagion.
When invited, we walk alongside local leaders, services, and whānau to plan a safe, culturally informed postvention response.
This may include:
Supporting the community with postvention hui and to develop local plans
Offering guidance to local iwi, health and social services to activate supports after suicide
Elevating whānau and community-led approaches
Supporting communication strategies
Offer insights from a national perspective on locally led solutions
Our role is to bring people together to reduce harm, support healing, and uphold the strength of hapori as they navigate this challenging time.
We take a systems approach to this kaupapa, recognising the social, cultural and structural factors that shape wellbeing and influence suicide. Our mahi weaves lived experience, mātauranga Māori and clinical expertise to ensure our support is grounded in Aotearoa and in step with international best practice.
We walk alongside people and organisations to build capability, share knowledge and strengthen the conditions that support wellbeing.
