"My journey in psychology, through doctoral study and hands-on mahi, has always been guided by a deep commitment to making the world a better place"
I’m Leon, and I’ve been part of the Towards Wellbeing pilot and wider team for over two decades. My journey in psychology, through doctoral study and hands-on mahi, has always been guided by a deep commitment to making the world a better place. That commitment is rooted in my Christian faith and a belief that every opportunity is a chance to uplift others.
Over the years, I’ve held a range of roles that have sharpened my skills in evaluation, decision-making, and strategic thinking. I’m especially drawn to understanding what works—using evidence, experience, and insight to shape meaningful change.
As Chair of the Te Aho Board, I work closely with our Chief Executive to ensure our governance and leadership reflect Te Aho’s vision and strategic goals. I see this mahi as a way to honour both clinical and lived experience, and to help build approaches that are inclusive, responsive, and grounded in hope.
Outside of work, I live in Wellington and enjoy finding quiet moments to reflect, recharge, and stay connected to family and community.
